Basketball

Colten played rec basketball this year and really enjoyed it. It only lasted about 8 weeks. Every Saturday they would have a 20 minute practice and then a 20 minute game. It was so nice that they didn't have practice on school nights since we seem to have enough to do then! At the first practice, the girls college basketball team put on a "camp" to teach the kids the basics.  It lasted about 3 hours and Colten sure was tired the rest of the day. BUT he had fun and that's what matters! Here are a few pictures from one Saturday.

The games were really fun to watch. The coaches were so busy running up and down the court to make sure everyone was were they were suppose to be. Suprisingly, they did make quite a few baskets and actually won most of their games. They don't keep score in sporting events when the kids are younger which is kind of frustrating. I understand the reasoning behind it but the kids still want to know "who won the game?"

Hunting Trip

The end of Novemeber Loren took Colten deer and turkey hunting (Caden woke up sick that morning so he didn't get to go). Here are a few pictures from their little adventure.

FINALLY....

Last night Colten lost his 1st tooth...finally! It's been loose FOREVER! His original plan was that he wanted Loren to tie fishing line to his tooth and to the door and then slam the door. So, Loren had everything ready & went to tie the line to his tooth and Colten freaked. Loren says "Ok, just let me see how loose your tooth really is" and then just popped it out. The other tooth next to it is pretty loose but Colten said he couldn't loose 2 teeth in the same night. So maybe tonight the other one will come out. Needless to say he was happy to wake up and find a couple of dollars under his pillow!

P.S. Don't mind the ketchup and ink that is on his face! Didn't realize this until after the fact....oh well!

We celebrated Colten's 6th birthday last Saturday.

Colten's at the age that he doesn't really want TOYS but can't decided what else he does want. He ended up getting quite a bit of money(thanks Grandma & Grandpa, Aunt Jenni, Granny & Poppy, & Great Grandma & Grandpa). Grandma & Papa got him a Nintendo DS and a couple of games and Grandma & Grandpa also got him a cool art set. He was very happy with everything!

Tip Toes

For those of you that don't know, Colten has walked on his tip toes since the day he began walking. When he was little, we were told that he would most likely grow out of it...well he hasn't! So about a month ago we took him to the doctor and started the process of breaking his habit. We have to do exercises every night to help strenghten his leg muscles and scretch his tendon. He was also fitted with leg braces that he has to wear to bed every night. He has been such a trooper through the whole thing. Some days are better than others. The doctor and physical therapist say he is making progress for sure. He has to stay in these braces for about 3 months and then he will probably have to wear a different kind of braces throughout the day. They say it will probably take about 9 months until he is "cured."
